Oscars, Hillary Clinton, and Quarterlife: At Least One Doesn't Suck

It's late, but I can't sleep without acknowledging a few things:

1) The Oscars - With something like 32 million viewers, the 2008 Oscars were among the least watched in the last half-century. I'm not a marketer quite yet, but I know that I'd be absolutely pissed about paying 1.7 million dollars for a 30-second spot. 2/3 of the Super Bowl price for only 1/3 of the viewers? Someone is getting fucked (and it's definitely not me). I learned about this measurement called CPM...I wonder if it applies here?

2) Hillary Clinton - The Hillary Camp has been accused of running a "kitchen sink" strategy - you know, trying everything. I can't comment either way, but remember that Youtube video where the person got their ass kicked so badly in a fight that it hurt to watch - but you kept watching over and over again anyway? Yeah, exactly. Eleven straight punches to the face, bitch.

3) Quarterlife - I had the pleasure of catching the NBC show Quarterlife for the first time tonight. I was absolutely SUCKED-IN by its hypnotizing generation-Y pedaling (omg, jules, finally sum1 tote undrstnds me). Basically, it's the first internet show ever to be picked up by "real" television.

Summary: A bunch of archetypal 20-somethings live the stereotypical Millennial lifestyle while trying to discover themselves in relation to the world. Think FRIENDS, but with artsy, digitally-savvy young professionals who can't bear to conform with society (man, they totally get me - I'm so artsy too!)

Expect a legit post about Quarterlife in the next couple of days.
